Be Still
I’m in my late 30s. Which means I should probably stop being scared of things like spiders and what not. Right?! What are you scared of? What frightens you the most?
Fear of the unknown?
Fear of what others will think or say?
Fear of not measuring up?
Fear of be unqualified?
Fear of being unworthy?
For WAY TOO LONG these things have guided too many of my decisions.
Maybe you can relate.
Reading through Scripture it’s almost as if God somehow knew how easy it would be for us to let the burdens of this world overcome us. And so we see over and over some form of God telling us to not fear, to not be dismayed, to not worry, to have courage. Its like when you keep having to tell your kids to stop doing that one thing over and over and you finally just scream out “STOOOOOOP!!!” I feel like this is what God is doing all thorough Scripture. He’s like don’t worry guys! Seriously, no need to worry I got this. Hey remember when I said I got it? Well, I do. Hey, no need to fear. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. And then Jesus says to me and to you in John 16:33 that when we are facing all this world has to throw at us (and it will throw a lot of junk at us), and we are tempted to worry about everything to TAKE HEART! STOP WORRYING!! I’ve already overcome all of that.
TL;DR: The battle isn’t yours. It’s God’s. And He’s already won.
My prayer for myself and for each of you is that when we are afraid, anxious, or fearful of things we cannot control (just triggered you with that word didn’t I?), that we will trust in God. Physically, emotionally, and spiritually put our complete surrendering TRUST in the God who spoke the universe into existence. There is no one like Him, His name is greater, and is mighty in power. And I promise you, when you surrender completely to Him, He will honor that and it will be more beautiful than you could have put together by yourself anyways.
